Day 1 of the 8th Annual Conference of the Ghana Association of Agricultural Economists (GAAE-2025) opened at KNUST with practical conversations on the theme “Transforming Agri-Food Systems in Developing Economies Through Sustainable Agribusiness Development.”
Speakers such as Prof. Fred Nimoh, Hon. Eric Opoku, Dr. Abebe Halle-Gabriel, Dr. Mrs. Adelaide Siaw Agyepong, Prof. John K. M. Kuwornu, and Prof. Miroslava Bavorová delivered insights focused on real, scalable solutions for driving sustainable agricultural growth across Africa and other developing regions.
In her keynote address, Dr. Mrs. Adelaide Siaw Agyepong, CEO of the African Agribusiness Consortium (AAC), emphasized that Africa’s major barrier is not the lack of research or innovation but the inability to sustain, finance, and scale proven solutions. She underscored the need for stronger collaboration, reliable funding, and stable policies to close the gap between ideas and implementation.
She called on stakeholders to move from intention to action, noting, “We must act on what we know, finance what we believe in, and protect what we build.”
